Welcome

Fairfield Farmhouse Community Trust was set up in January 2011 in response to local people’s wishes that the farmhouse – now the oldest building in Govan – should be saved and restored. The hope is that the restoration can be led primarily by local people, giving them the opportunity to gain skills and confidence.

In many respects the people of Govan mirror the recent history of the building – left to their own devices. In giving the people a chance to undertake the restoration, we hope that we can repair the building with local people involvement at every stage. We have not yet established the end-use of the building, though we have a number of proposals.

The farmhouse, like the park it sits in, was left in deed of gift to the people of Govan, by the late Mrs Elder. So we would hope to ensure that the end use of the building is something accessible and relevant to the local community to whom it was left.
